We were thrilled to have Oriental Pied Hornbills nesting just outside of our chalet at the lodge. This male hornbill is not eating this fruit. He is regurgitating it to feed to the female and their nestling. They are in a tree cavity, and sealed in with a mud wall for protection from predators. They depend on the male for food, which he delivers through a small opening in the mud wall. The adults will break down the wall when the nestling is ready to fledge.
